Marquis Lockhart

Marquis is passionate about helping young people know Jesus and live life in response to Him.

Born and raised in Bronx, New York, Marquis sensed a desire to serve in ministry as a child attending church with his grandmother. Years later, he sensed that desire was a calling as he attended Gordon College in Massachusetts, during which time he found ministry service as a camp counselor at Grotonwood Camp and Conference Center. He then became Youth Director of Washington Street Baptist Church soon after.

Marquis earned a Bachelor’s in Christian Ministry with a concentration in Youth Ministry and went on to intern at CrossBridge Community Church in San Antonio, Texas. Marquis then took a position as a Youth Pastor at Washington Street Baptist church while leading multiple Awakening youth conferences and summer camp programs as a Ministry Program Developer and Assistant Director.

He and his wife, Analy, currently reside in Concord, North Carolina with their three year old son, Landon, and eight month old daughter Riley Grace. Marquis’ hobbies include spending time with his two kids, listening to podcasts, learning graphic design, and eating his favorite food: chocolate chip cookies.

We are committed to creating a safe and fun environment where your children are taught about the Bible and the love of Jesus through relevant, age-appropriate services designed just for them. Our ultimate hope is to see a generation of children come to know God at an early age and grow in their faith through their teenage years and beyond.

CURRENT ELEMENTARY SERIES

Can you imagine needing to walk through the desert? You’d be surrounded by cacti, sand, snakes, and more sand. With the heat of the sun, we’d wind up so thirsty and wondering “Are we there yet?” That’s probably how the Israelites felt as they wandered around the desert, waiting to enter the Promised Land. But no matter how tired our feet get, we can focus on what’s happening in our lives right now rather than just on where we’re going. In this five-week series based on stories from Exodus, we’ll explore how we can choose to be thankful, love God and others, turn to God when we’re lost, go to God when we need rest, and remember God’s promises.

Frolic Preschool Sunday School is a play-based curriculum that helps young children experience Bible stories and faith-based storybooks in meaningful, memorable ways.

We bring kid-inspired fun to every service and classroom through energetic worship music, interactive games and bright, friendly environments.

Our team is made up of people who feel called to share the love of Jesus with kids, and every Sunday they bring excitement and enjoyment to your child's church experience.

SAFETY

Your child's safety is incredibly important to us, and we are committed to a system that creates a safe environment. This means our staff and volunteer leaders have completed a background check.

Our kids area has a uniformed security guard present. With the well-being of your child in mind, our entire team is thoroughly trained and immersed in a culture of safety and cleanliness.

LEARNING

As a church, we are always investing in the next generation, and this starts with babies and kids. From praying over infants to sharing relevant Bible lessons with elementary kids, our goal is for each child to learn about the Bible and experience God's presence weekly.
